History of Robinson
Located on State Highway 77, six miles south of Waco in central McLennan County, the city originated in the early 1850s when brothers John and Levi Robinson established homesteads. The village experienced growth with the brothers surveying land in 1856, marking off lots for homesteaders. By 1885, Robinson had a population of 600, supporting churches, general stores, and a school. The late 19th century saw the establishment of churches and social clubs. Incorporated in 1955, Robinson's population grew to 2,110 by 1960 and nearly 7,000 by 1980. In 1990, it was a primarily residential town with small businesses, and a school district. By 2000, the population had reached 7,845. Robinson continues to grow and is the fastest growing town in McLennan County.
